Memberships: Dr. Tolins-Mejia is medical director for the Cardiovascular Short Stay Unit and physician lead for the Heart Catheterization Laboratory at Unity Hospital. She is the medical advisor for the Women's Heart Center at Mercy Hospital. She is the recipient of the 2007 William Carr, MD, Leadership Award.

In addition to her leadership roles at Unity and Mercy, she is a member of numerous professional associations such as the American Heart Association, Melpomene Institute for Women's Health Research, American College of Chest Physicians, American College of Cardiology and an Associate with the American College of Physicians. She has also written numerous articles on cardiology issues for professional journals and has presented at the scientific meetings of the American Heart Association and American College of Physicians.

Dr. Tolins-Mejia has been recognized as Top Doctor in the Minneapolis-St Paul magazine and as Top Doctor Chosen by Women in Minnesota Monthly. Currently, she is a community speaker on public education regarding women's cardiac risk factors. She is active in educational programs for nurses and conducts a monthly conference for Unity staff on various cardiac topics.
