Mercy & Unity Hospitals

What is the significance of the hospitals to the community?
Mercy was opened in 1965 with fund raising support form the community. Unity was founded a year later by the North Suburban Hospital District. We were founded by the communities we serve, and we have a long history of giving back. Learn more about us...

Are Mercy & Unity not-for-profit?
Yes. We are a 501(C)(3) charitable organization. Contributions are tax deductible to the full extent of the law. We are eligible to receive matching gifts from corporations and organizations that support educational activities.

Giving Through the Foundation

How can I make my gift?
You can make your gift by sending a check to Mercy & Unity Hospitals. Just print and complete
our donation form (requires Adobe Reader), and mail it with your gift to Mercy & Unity Hospitals Development Office, Mail Route 51165, 4050 Coon Rapids Blvd., Coon Rapids, MN 55432.

How can I be sure that my gift stays at Mercy & Unity Hospitals?
Philanthropy money raised through the Foundation will remain at Mercy & Unity. Gifts can be “restricted” to be used for very specific purposes. Systems for tracking restricted or designated donations and their uses are in place. As is the policy of Allina Hospitals & Clinics' Board of Directors, money raised locally is spent locally (including interest earned).

How is my gift used?
You can choose how your gift will be used.

  • Toward the areas of greatest need… Let us know your gift is unrestricted so that we can put it to use in the area of greatest need.
  • Toward a particular program or service… You can specify that your donation support the general patient care fund, facility renovations or to any of Mercy & Unity's services and programs.

What different areas can I direct my gift to?
You can designate your gift to the general patient care fund, facility renovations or these and other services and programs:

  • Allina Mental Health provides mental health and substance abuse treatment tailored to the needs of the individual. The staff strives to improve clients’ quality of life by providing the support and tools needed for successful recovery.
